Just since we had our last class I found this great video.
There is another video about Biomimicry but after 1:30 minutes it gets very complicated. It is worth watching the first minute and a half though.
In class we have been thinking about how we can use forms found in nature to help us develop renewable forms of energy, and other materials and resources.
We explored how scientists, engineers, architects, artists..... use forms developed in nature and give these forms a different function.
Was Leonardo Da Vinci inspired by plant design when he drew helicopters and parachutes?
We talked about how the discover of Velcro was inspired by nature.
The Nautilus, whose form was an inspiration for submarines, has many special structures that allow it to survive in its' habitat. However it is being threatened because it is being fished in a non-sustainable way.
